VietNamNet Bridge - The total budget of Vietnam’s tourism human resource development project is mainly funded by the European Union (EU), including 10.8 million Euros financed by the organization and 1.2 million Euros of correspondent capital from Vietnam.

The budget aims to improve the standard and quality of human resource in the tourism sector and help the Government and businesses maintain the quantity and quality of the human resource when the project is completed.

Under the project’s framework, on April 7-8, Vietnam held a seminar to introduce European markets, including France, Netherlands, Belgium and Northern-European countries, attracting the participation of representatives from 150 travel agents in Hanoi and international experts from Europe and Asia.

The seminar is to support tourism businesses to improve access to tourism information, study tourists’ preferences and learn from the experience of international experts on marketing and promotion solutions. Through these, Vietnam’s tourism competitiveness is expected to be promoted in the markets.

Mr. Lena Skogstrom, a tourism expert on Northern-European countries, noted that Swedish people spend nearly 5 percent of their income (equivalent to 6 billion USD) traveling. Vietnam needs to promote marketing to access this market.

Vietnam has to do many things to advertise and promote tourism in these markets while it must continue to meet the demand of tourists with high-quality tourism products, said Mr. Skogstrom.

The seminar will be held in Danang on April 10-11 and in Ho Chi Minh City on April 14-15.
